Meet our doctors:
Dr. Ahmad has been practicing for over 22 years total and the last 14 in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Ahmad grew up in Montreal, Canada where she completed an undergraduate degree in Microbiology and Immunology. She earned her Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada before moving to the United States. Dr. Ahmad presided as co-president of the International Optometric Honor’s Fraternity at the University. Dr. Ahmad was been a presenter at SECO (South Eastern Conference of Optometry) in 2006 and 2007, as well as at AOA (American Optometric Association) in 2009 National Meeting and at the GOA (Georgia Optometric Association) annual meeting in 2008.
In 2004 she was awarded Wal-Mart’s National Optometrist of the Year and has been the optometrist of her region for 3 separate years. She has also been a lecturer for Alcon and Bausch and Lomb and on the editorial panel for Women of Optometry. She is presently on the Advisory panel for Wal-Mart Optometrists as well as on the Board of the national association Energyeyes, which represents corporate affiliated optometrists in North America. She has been an Independent Doctor of Optometry with Wal-Mart for over 13 years.
She completed internships in Ocular Pathology, Vision Therapy, and Specialty Contact Lens Fittings. Dr. Ahmad is Board Certified at the National and State levels in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease. Dr. Ahmad has extensive experience in family eye care, including, pediatric eye examination, contact lens fitting, eye surgery co-management and adult eye care. Dr. Ahmad’s training and experience also allow her to diagnose, treat, and manage all eye conditions. She also takes pleasure in helping her patients avoid potential eye problems, and advising them about their options among glasses.
Dr. Seung Sarah Shin was born in Seoul, Korea and came to United States when she was twelve after living in Argentina for a few years. She graduated with Cum Laude from The College of New Jersey in Biology and obtained a Doctor of Optometry Degree from State University of New York. After an internship at the Veterans Hospital in Newport, New York she interned at the Omni Eye Center in Atlanta, GA.
Since moving to Georgia, Dr. Shin entered into a practice where she is therapeutically certified to diagnose and treat eye diseases as well as primary care optometry. She is a board certified optometrist specializing in Low Vision. Dr. Shin has been the catalyst for the addition of a Low Vision Clinic to our practice. Low vision care is offered to patients who have vision loss that cannot be corrected by ordinary glasses, medication, or surgery.
Dr. Shin serves as a member of various community and Optometric organizations including the Georgia Optometric Association. She is fluent in Korean and Spanish and enjoys running in her spare time. She also volunteers in various organizations including Fellowship of Christian Optometrists. She has repeatedly gone on optometric mission trips providing free eye exams and vision care in undeveloped countries.
Dr. K. Ohlsson has been practicing for over 30 years and has been at the Ashford-Dunwoody location for over 20 years. He has an undergraduate degree from Purdue University and a Master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University. He has 2 doctorate degrees; the first is a Ph.D. in Botany from Michigan State University and the second is a Doctorate of Optometry from New England College of Optometry.
Dr. Ohlsson is a member of the Georgia Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association and is Board Certified at the National and State levels in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease.
